SYCAMORE LODGE EQUINE HOSPITAL
- Number of positions annually: 8 interns, 13 month internships, starting in July or December.
- Salary: €25,000-28,000 depending on experience.

Learning Opportunities:
Rotating internship between anaesthesia, surgery (including lameness examination and diagnostic imaging) and internal medicine with the opportunity for ambulatory rotation to assist senior vets in the off-season. Dedicated out of hours rotation during the season.
- Proficiency in adult and neonatal anaesthesia
- Care of hospitalised patients including ICU/NICU.
- Acquisition and interpretation of radiographic, ultrasound and nuclear scintigraphic imaging.
- Busy surgical caseload inc. arthroscopy, laparoscopy, transphyseal screw placement, upper airway surgery, fracture fixation, urogenital procedures and emergencies inc. colic and caesarean sections.
- Basic nerve blocks.
- Endoscopy, gastroscopy and dynamic endoscopy
- Weekly participation and presentation in journal clubs
- Encouragement and support to present case report at national veterinary conference.

- 6-month internship position in December/ January.

Learning Opportunities:
- Rotating internship between anaesthesia, surgery and internal medicine with focus on neonatology in a purpose-built referral hospital
- End of year of year proficiency expected in adult and neonatal anaesthesia (inc. gaseous and intravenous anaesthesia for field procedures)
- Basic nerve blocks including perineural and joints
- Acquisition and interpretation of radiographic, ultrasound and nuclearscintigraphic imaging
- Wide and varied surgical procedures inc. fracture fixation, laparascopic urogenital procedures and emergencies inc. colic and caesarean sections.
- Regular participation and presentation in journal clubs and each intern encouraged and supported to produce case report to present at a national veterinary conference.

Learning Opportunities:

- Lamenesses: will be confident in all blocks and most joint medications, ultrasound, radiology etc. by end of year.
- Gastroscopy, airway endoscopy, BAL and medical ultrasound.
- Assist with and attend ambulatory calls independently with support.
- Training in reproductive ultrasound, AI, uterine lavage etc – the interns do most of the frozen mare scanning under supervision so will be highly. competent in this by the end of the programme.

TROYTOWN EQUINE HOSPITAL
Troytown GreyAbbey Hospital offers a limited number of internship positions for graduate veterinarians – the positions are for a fixed period of 12 months.
The Intern’s main responsibility are in-patient and out-patient care based at the hospital.
Duties include anaesthesia, intensive care monitoring and the day-to-day care of all of the hospitalized patients. In addition, Interns will help perform radiography, ultrasonography, nuclear scintigraphy (bone scanning), MRI scanning, colic and lameness workups.
