Applications are now open for Equine Vets to join the 2023 Thoroughbred Breeding Season at Fethard Equine Hospital medicine unit. Applicants must have some previous referral hospital experience or experience with sick foals. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic with good team working skills and professionalism. Candidates will be in charge of the admission, care, and treatment of over 150 ICU foals and a wide range of other medical conditions in both adults and neonates equine patients.

Fethard Equine Hospital medicine unit is a well-purposed-built ward with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure the best care of our inpatients. This is a great opportunity to gain further experience in equine neonatal medicine as this is a hands-on medicine position where the candidate will be expected to work autonomously by the end of this period. Equine practice can be hard work so we really try to support a work life balance:

  • 4.5 day working week with Friday off in lieu following weekend on call

Equine Veterinary Surgeon Position – 06/04/22

Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Ltd  is welcoming applications for the rotating internship program (12 months, 2022-2023).

The internship program has recently been restructured to include rotations through internal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, outpatient appointments, and nights. Duties will include care of hospitalized patients, assisting with surgery, anesthesia, lameness investigation, internal medicine cases with a strong neonatology component during foal season, and diagnostic imaging.

Out of hours work is required with 2-3 nights on call/ week and 2-3 weekends/ month. The interns will be under the direct supervision of two board-certified surgeons and one board-eligible internal medicine clinician. Recent graduates and experienced candidates will be considered and will be required to have a veterinary degree registerable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) at the time of starting. Professional indemnity insurance, VCI fees and a stipend are included.
