Short term Internal Medicine fellowship – Fethard Equine Hospital – 14/4/26
Fethard Equine Hospital is looking for one equine vet with a strong interest in neonatology, critical care, and internal medicine, to join the medicine team during the busiest months of the season. Starting in May 2026. Three-month contract.
- Previous referral hospital experience (internship) or experience with sick foals is essential.
- The successful candidate must be enthusiastic with good team working skills and professionalism.
- Fellows are involved in the admission, work-up, care, and treatment of a large number of sick equine patients, mostly neonates.
- The medicine unit at Fethard Equine Hospital is a well-equipped unit with capacity to manage large volume of critical patients, providing the highest standard care.
- The medicine team is a specifically designated team of yard staff, assistants, technicians, nurses, interns, vets and specialist that provide round the clock care of inpatients in a friendly and supportive workplace.
- This is a great opportunity to gain further experience in equine neonatal medicine as this is a hands-on medicine position where the candidate will be expected to work autonomously by the end of this period.

At Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital, we are committed to developing a strong nursing team where individual skills are recognized and professional growth is encouraged. This full-time role is structured to provide a sustainable and enjoyable working pattern, with no out-of-hours emergency work and weekend duties limited to a scheduled half-day Saturday on a 1-in-4 rota, allowing for predictable time off.
The position is primarily surgery focused nursing, with hands-on involvement in inpatient care and treatment. You will also gain experience in imaging, surgical assistance, and anaesthesia monitoring, with full training and guidance provided to support your continued development.
We offer a competitive starting salary of €32,000–€40,000, commensurate with experience, with paid CPD, VCI registration, and VDS. In addition any overtime is paid time.
